This site is a hardstanding site, ideal for Motorhomes, situated adjacent to the Peak Rail heritage railway line (https://www.peakrail.co.uk/our-railway/peak-rail-stations/rowsleysouthstation/). Here you can see all of the trains in their home for evening a well as being situated at the station end of the railway line that takes you into Matlock. Usually there is discounted rail ticket for CCC members. Depending on availability, the DA can usually hire out a train carriage for the evening to have a mingle with friends and other campers.
Right next to the back of the site is a public bridleway that can runs to Rowsley and join onto the Monsal trail taking you into Bakewell (cycle route). In the other direction the bridleway takes you to Matlock via Darley Dale.
Nearby is Rowsley village which has a lovely pub that serves food and drink (https://www.grouseclaretpub.co.uk/), you may need to book to get a space for Sunday lunch. Also in Rowsley is a car boot that usually runs on a Sunday morning at the sports field. Always a mix of new and second hand goods (https://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk/peak-district-car-boot-sales/).
If you like Indian cuisine, you're in luck because the award winning Shalimar restaurant is very close and also offers a takeaway service (http://www.theshalimar.co.uk/). Darley Dale also boasts Chinese and chip shop takeaway food as well as a few village stores.
This is an ideal location to use as a base for Chatsworth House and Gardens, Matlock, Bakewell.
For children, Matlock Park Farm is a short drive away (https://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk/peak-district-car-boot-sales/) along with Little Monkey's indoor play centre (https://www.little-monkeys.co.uk/).
