Report for Uppertown Farm, Carsington
The on-site camping numbers have been somewhat depleted as of late but this weekend the numbers were an encouraging 18 despite a poor weather forecast, justified by the mixed weather, mainly fine, and fantastic views. Thanks to the stewards Pete and Lynn who had a steady job as the field was in fine condition despite the intermittent rain. All D.A.'s are struggling slightly for numbers as fuel prices hit everyone but all of our meets still offer great value for money, generally between a third and a half of the cost of commercial site fees.
We have two meets prior to Notts D.A.'s Goose Fair Meet, which is supported by Derbyshire D.A. The first being Flakes Barn at Brassington which is but a short distance from Carsington Reservoir as is the meet mentioned above, the second is Haxey Quays which is a riverside venue with fishing on site and it is situated opposite a pub restaurant. Haxey, being a commercial site, has camping available after the end of our 5 night meet which means that you can stay another 2 nights and then head off to the Goose Fair meet.
Our Bonfire Meet is now fully booked, there is a reserve list if you still want to try and get a place. Please contact Janet Sims (details on contacts page). Please do not turn up un-booked as you may be turned away. No visitors in hall at night and no own fireworks please. There is a Youth Area available at this meet.
You can go on the D.D.A. mailing list giving up to date information by contacting myself on jackson3524@hotmail.co.uk, this runs in conjunction with this website.
Please keep an eye out for details of our Christmas Party and New Year meets.
