Rowsley Peak Rail ~ March 2001
Sadly the weather that greeted the members on Friday didnt last over the weekend, though everybody made the best of it and throughly enjoyed the meet.
42 units attended including 3 Trent Valley DA, 2 Lincolnshire DA, 1 Staffordshire DA, 7 Notts DA, 1 Lindum DA, 1 North Wales DA, 1 Folk and Dance, 2 North East Cheshire DA, 1 Lune Valley DA, 1 Leicestershire DA, 2 Chesterfield DA, 1 South Yourkshire DA, 3 Northants DA and 16 from Derbyshire DA. Must be some sort of record for a small DA meet, unless you know differently.
I'm pretty sure it was the fact that the trains were running that made this weekend so popular. Several members managed to take a trip into Matlock on the train or the quick trip up the road tot he Shopping Outlets at Rowsley.
Saturday night saw a number of brave souls venture into one of the railway carriages for a social get together, nobody wanted to play bingo though. Howard from Northants did however play an inpromptue Blue Grass session on his banjo. Thanks Howard it was very well received and much appreciated.
Hope everybody enjoyed their weekend and will come back next year to see if we can make it even better.
Finally a huge thank you to Ken for stewarding the weekend, above and beyond sometimes especially with the gate late at night.
