Haxey Quays Meet 2011

Haxey Quays Sept 30th/Oct 5th

What a lovely weekend we had the Haxey Quays Rally.
The weather was brilliant for the time of year and there was a good turnout of 38 units.

We set up at the side of the river, with free fishing, on a well mown flat field. There was a good walking area with space for children to play and to walk dogs and plenty of public footpaths.

Carl took the children out and a couple of adults on a trip along the river in his inflatable kayak and there was a friendly atmosphere all round. There was a pub across the road serving good beer and excellent food at reasonable prices, with a beer garden overlooking the river and also the golf course which was next to the pub.

It was nice to have warm evenings and for people to be able to sit outside having BBQ’S.

For Brenda and Paddy this was the first time that they had stewarded and they both found the experience to be very positive with lots of friendly people.

We went to a rally at Haxey Quays
Grandma, Granddad, Mum, Dad, Brother Harry and me
We set up our units at the side of the water
Cos we wanted to fish so Granddad said we oughta
Carl took me out on his Kayak – a kind’a boat
And somehow we managed to keep it afloat
We went a nice walk to the micro- brewery pub
Were we sampled the ale but not the grub
But we did have a meal at the Haxey Gate
Harry didn’t eat his peas, but left them all on his plate
All too soon it was time to depart
Dad said,” that awning can come down for a start”
So goodbye Haxey Quays but have no fear
We shall return again next year
