Burns Weekend 2012
The meet at Doveridge was a total success despite the field getting in a state after heavy rain, sleet and wind. We had a turnout of 50 units with visitors from Trent Valley, Notts., Leicester, Staffs, North Staffs, Chase and Chesterfield D.A.'s.
Thanks go out to stewards Vince and Diane who did a great job under really grim conditions and to kitchen staff who produced 109 portions of haggis etc.
The entertainment for the evening was provided by Lucia Matisse who was back by popular demand after her performance on the Friday night of our bonfire meet. She sang a complete range of material from recent years and back to the forties.
The entertainment wasn't advertised prior to the meet as to prevent over capacity in the hall. The amount attending was just right for the hall size.
There were several celebrations going on so best wishes go out to Charlotte Slater (10) a Burns night baby, Dick Sims (65), Jean Cartman (65) and finally Vince and Diane who have been married for 21yrs.
The next meet is our A.G.M. / Valentines meet, please do not turn up before 4.00p.m. on the Friday as the hall and grounds are in use by another group and they are slightly unruly, you have been warned!
We have an American supper on Saturday night and a disco on both nights.
Please remember your current membership card!
